Developer opt-out and listing assets under Catalog Access
By Sathi, Founder & Editor
Unless developers opt out, Play listing assets can be provided to participating US third-party stores. Downloads still settle through Play.
Default inclusion
Google’s July 2026 communications explain that US listing assets become available to enrolled third-party stores so those storefronts can offer the same apps, with download completion through Play and Play service fees still applying.
Opt-out responsibility
Developers who do not want their listing assets shared must follow Play Console opt-out instructions before or as the program goes live. Discovery sites should not invent opt-out status — check Play Console guidance and the developer’s own notices.
User takeaway
Seeing an app inside a third-party storefront hosted via Play does not mean a random mirror is safe. Confirm you are in a legitimate storefront experience and that the package matches the Play listing you trust.
