Android developer verification: September 30, 2026 rollout
By Sathi, Founder & Editor
Google’s Android developer verification program starts enforcing identity-linked app registration in four countries on September 30, 2026, with a broader 2027 expansion planned.
Timeline and regions
Android Developers documentation states that developer verification protections go live starting September 30, 2026 for users in Brazil, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand on certified Android devices. Google intends a global expansion for certified devices in 2027.
Participating stores in the first phase
The initial phase verifies installs from Google Play plus partner stores including Honor App Market, OPPO App Market, Galaxy Store, Palm Store, V-Appstore, and GetApps. Apps from stores outside that list are not subject to the September 2026 enforcement wave in the same way — but developers are advised to prepare before the 2027 expansion.
Sideloading and the advanced flow
Users can still choose to install unverified apps via an advanced safety flow that includes educational steps (reporting describes a waiting period so people understand the risk). For readers of this site: prefer Play or a verified participating store when available, confirm package names, and treat anonymous APK mirrors as high risk.
